Destiny 2 has a slew of collectible resources vital to every player looking to maximize their power and optimize their efficiency in battle. One of the rarer but more important of them is the Enhancement Prism, a golden crystal presumably imbued with space magic that is required for forging Masterwork gear.
Armor Tiers have 10 energy levels on any given piece of armor in Destiny 2. Upgrading through the first few levels requires only Glimmer and Legendary Shards, but subsequent levels require Enhancement Cores as well. Then the last few cost Enhancement Prisms. You need a total of three Enhancement Prisms to fully Masterwork a piece of Legendary armor and a whopping five for Exotic armor. It’s absolutely worth it, however, because not only does it allow you to equip more mods on the armor, but it permanently adds +2 to all stats for a total of +12.
Masterworking gear is a costly affair, however. Broadly speaking, like most aspects of Destiny 2’s loot economy, collecting Enhancement Prisms is a marathon and not a sprint. If you regularly do high-end content, then you should collect them over time. (Be mindful of the inventory cap of 50, though!) That said, you can optimize your usage by being very picky about the individual pieces of armor that you actually spend them on. Never try to Masterwork everything. Think about your most-used builds and how they fit in with the current meta.
The Best Enhancement Prism Farm in Destiny 2
By far the most efficient farming method for Enhancement Prisms is to run Legendary Lost Sectors on repeat, and to sweeten the pot, the loot pool for this activity is getting a lot better in Season of the Wish. The only way to even come close to the 1830 and 1840 recommended power levels of Legend and Master is to grind for a lot of XP to upgrade your seasonal artifact and inch your way beyond the Pinnacle cap of 1810. Running them solo also offers the chance at an Exotic armor drop.
You are guaranteed one Enhancement Prism per Legendary Lost Sector run whether you’re on Legend or Master and have a chance at one more, with increased odds at the Master tier. But succeeding at this requires a lot of prep work. Equipment is locked, and the tiny dungeon also has Champions to contend with and other elemental problems to consider. The banner starting point for the activity will list it all out plain as day, however. So if you go in with an adequate loadout with or without a fireteam and are familiar with the layout of the Lost Sector, you might be able to complete it in only a few minutes.
The following Lost Sectors are some of the more manageable ones included in the Season 22 rotation:
- Veles Labyrinth in the Cosmodrone
- Bunker E15 and Concealed Void on Europa
- K1 Revelation and Bay of Drowned Wishes on the Moon
Should you see any of these pop up in the rotation, definitely give them a shot. It’s unclear what will be in the rotation when Season of the Wish rolls around, but these are some of the other easier ones:
- Perdition on Europa
- Chamber of Starlight in the Dreaming City
- The Conflux on Nessus
Unless you’re very confident in your skills, it may be best to avoid any of the others unless you’ve got a reliable squad to back you up.
The Second-Best Enhancement Prism Farm in Destiny 2
With several of the changes made in Lightfall, farming for Prisms got a bit easier — but it still requires you to crush high-end activities. Nightfall on Hero difficulty or higher guarantees at least one Enhancement Prism per completion. At Grandmaster, you’re guaranteed four with a chance of getting up to two more.
This method is definitely worth focusing on whenever there’s a modifier boosting Vanguard rank points or Nightfall rewards, which you’ll see as a pop-up when you log into the game. The latter often amounts to even more Prisms in your pocket.
While you’re grinding away at this one, be sure to bring a Masterworked Ghost Shell and equip the Greater Core Harvest (Vanguard) mod. With it, defeating bosses in any Vanguard playlist, including Nightfall, has a chance to award a Prism.
The Way of the Iron Lord
For all you Iron Lords out there who relish in the chaos of Iron Banner, this semi-regular Crucible activity offers a much more casual method for farming Enhancement Prisms. Every piece of Iron Banner armor comes with an innate armor perk called Iron Lord’s Pride. It grants a chance to receive an Enhancement Prism as a reward at the end of Iron Banner matches, and the boon stacks up to four times with four pieces of Iron Banner gear.
Most Iron Banner armor drops with great stats anyway. My Hunter’s Iron Forerunner Strides dropped a long time ago with a stat total of 65 with +30 Mobility and +20 Intellect. They literally never come off. This perk is also why I masterworked my Iron Forerunner Cloak ASAP. It too never comes off. Even if you don’t fully Masterwork your Iron Banner gear, it’s still worth wearing them while you play for the Prisms.
Similar to the Nightfall farm method, there’s a Greater Core Harvest (Crucible) mod that can also help here. With it equipped, precision final blows in the Crucible have a chance to award an Enhancement Prism. Pinpoint your best hand cannon, bow, sniper rifle, pulse rifle, or perhaps even scout rifle. Hand cannons and pulse rifles are in a great spot right now, so you can go with the Ace of Spades, which has innate perks benefiting precision hits anyway. The Beloved sniper rifle is also a great choice. But your choice will depend largely upon your loadout here.
The Marathon Enhancement Prism Farm Method
At the start of every new season, be sure to unlock the season pass. You’ll pick up a few Prisms along the way as you gradually rank up toward 100.
Even more importantly, partake in all of the ritual activities as the season progresses. As you rank up with various vendors, you can gain some Prisms as rewards. Pay attention to the weekly bonuses and do every bounty from the vendors affected. You’ll earn double rank up points that’ll make it relatively easy to get those Prisms, max out your reputation, and then reset it to do it all over again. Other vendors might also have Prisms available, but you’ll have an easier time with Zavala, Drifter, and Shaxx focusing on Vanguard, Gambit, and Crucible when these modifiers are active.
Furthermore, whenever you’re on a spree, be sure to adjust the Greater Core Harvest mod on your Ghost according to the activity. The Gambit variation gives you a chance of earning a Prism when defeating enemy invaders. Equip a top-tier linear fusion rifle or sniper rifle and make taking down invaders your job.
