Far Future is a pretty simple sniper to actually obtain. The first method is by completing the new Battlegrounds activity and using your Hammer of Proving at one of the three chests at the end. You will need a Hammer Charge to bust this chest open, but doing so will randomly award you with a piece of seasonal gear. Alternatively, you can focus on Umbral Engrams at the H.E.LM. to give you a better chance at obtaining this specific weapon. For Tier I, you’ll want to pick Chosen Arms which can reward you with any of the seasonal weapons, while Tier 2’s Far and Fatal and 3’s Far-Flung Fatality only hands out the Imperial Needle and Far Future

For the Tier 2 and 3 focuses you’ll need to finish the sniper rifle or bow kill requirements. Doing so will unlock these focus options, but it will cost you 3 and 5 Hammer Charges respectively. Because of this high Hammer Charge price, I recommend waiting until you’ve upgraded your H.E.L.M. table a bit. Additionally, Far Future can drop from various playlist activities such as Nightfalls, Crucible, and Gambit. This is way more inconsistent, so don’t use this as your main method for obtaining a god roll. It’s mainly there to supplement your Umbral Engrams.

Far Future God Rolls

Far Future PVE God Rolls

  • Fluted Barrel
  • Tactical Mag or Appended Mag
  • Surplus or Auto Loading Holster
  • Frenzy

When it comes to using Far Future in PVE activities there are far better options out there. I really don’t recommend using this, simply because it doesn’t offer a ton of terrific perks for damaging bosses or Champions. If you are determined to use it, you’ll want both Fluted Barrel and Appended Mag. The former gives us an increase to handling and stability, while the latter buffs our magazine size. You can also use Tactical Mag or Extended Mag, but the extended does come with a pretty hefty reload penalty.

For primary perks, you really only want Surplus and Frenzy. Surplus increases our handling, reload speed, and stability while Frenzy buffs the weapon’s overall damage. This makes it nice for when you’re standing in a well or bubble to damage a boss. If you frequently use your abilities, then Auto-Loading Holster is for you. This lets you empty a magazine into a boss, swap to your heavy, use that, then switch back to your rifle to continue damaging a foe. Again, this is only if you plan to use this for tougher foes and not typical rank and file foes.

Far Future PVP God Rolls

  • Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Quickdraw or Moving Target
  • Opening Shot

For the PVP players out there, the Far Future can roll with some fairly nice perks. Our first two slots are solely dedicated to bumping this weapon’s range, allowing us to engage targets before they become a threat. Both Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds achieve this, so make sure to hunt for these. In our first primary perk slot we are looking for either Quickdraw or Moving Target. Both of these are terrific for sniper rifles, so it entirely depends on what you’re looking for. Quickdraw is terrific for those who prefer to quick scope or swiftly engage targets when you get the drop on them. Alternatively, Moving Target offers a ton of benefits if you want to takedown Guardians while on dipping out and behind cover.

Finally, the last perk we want is Opening Shot, which gives us a great burst of accuracy when we pull the trigger. It’s terrific for ensuring you always land a critical hit on a Guardian, letting you take them down with a single well-placed bullet. It’s a solid sniper rifle that offers you a lot of versatility for both new and seasoned players. Plus, it’s fairly easy to farm for, making it ideal for Crucible players.
