Unending Tempest

Stats

Destiny 2's Season of the Witch introduced new weapons for all ritual playlists, including the Crucible. The ritual weapon for Crucible this season is Unending Tempest, a Stasis Precision Frame SMG.

Like all ritual weapons, this gun has a comically large perk pool to choose from, but there is a way to get around that by resetting your Crucible rank  at Lord Shaxx — we’ll get to that in a bit. First, here's how players can get Unending Tempest, and what the best rolls are for both PVE and PVP.

How to Get Unending Tempest

Players can get Unending Tempest as a random drop when completing Crucible matches. However, players can boost the number of drops they get from a Control game by using the Crucible Prosperity mod on their Ghosts. Alternatively, players can focus Unending Tempest through Lord Shaxx in the Focused Decoding tab on his vendor screen. This method costs one Crucible engram, 25 Legendary Shards and 5000 Glimmer.

This gun has a massive perk pool to choose from with 12 perks on both the third and fourth column. This makes it hard to get a strong roll with perks you want — let alone the ideal barrel and magazine. Additionally, players who reset their Crucible rank with Lord Shaxx multiple times receive multiple trait options on both the third and fourth columns. Each rank up increases the number of perks each column gets  — with up to three perks to choose from for both columns! This significantly improves players' odds of getting a god roll for either PVE or PVP.

Unending Tempest God Rolls

Unending Tempest PVE God Roll

  • Arrowhead Brake
  • Tactical Mag
  • Demolitionist or Subsistence
  • Frenzy or Adrenaline Junkie or Headstone or Collective Action
  • Masterwork: Stability

This gun has all the classic perk combinations to choose from like Subsistence/Frenzy or Demolitionist/Adrenaline Junkie alongside other options like Headstone and Collective Action in the fourth column. You really can't go wrong with a combination of any of these for PVE. That being said, there is some potential for a combination like Gutshot Straight/Frenzy, which could be potent in PVE, but it's not the main roll to chase after. Players can get lucky after resetting their ranks and find themselves with multiple of these rolls all in one gun. This weapon can be phenomenal for ad-clear, and it's an excellent way to regenerate ability energy. You can also get bonus damage for players running ability-spam builds.

Unending Tempest PVP God Roll

  • Extended Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Moving Target
  • Target Lock
  • Masterwork: Range

This roll is almost as strong as the god roll Immortal submachine gun. Moreover, Unending Tempest comes with the added benefit of Moving Target, providing an additional 10 Aim Assist, and its brand new origin trait, Nadir Focus. This trait says that "Sustained fire increases accuracy and range," which is pretty bonkers for an SMG. There isn't an exact value for how much range this adds, but needless to say, more range is always good on SMGs. Precision Frame SMGs intrinsically have more of a vertical recoil than other SMGs, which is why we have Extended Barrel to ensure its recoil is near a 100 while adding range and Accurized Rounds for even more range. Target Lock was part of the secret sauce that made the Immortal so good, making this trait a no brainer for this weapon. Alternatively, players can experiment with Dynamic Sway Reduction instead of Moving Target, but the amount of time it takes to get the maximum Stability benefit from Dynamic Sway Reduction isn't worth it for Target Lock. Otherwise, substitute Target Lock for Tap the Trigger and completely build into range while maintaining stability.
