Bungie’s This Week in Destiny blog announced that the Glimmer capacity will be doubled in size in the upcoming 7.3.4 update. So, starting on January 30, the Glimmer capacity for all players increases to 500,000 Glimmer from 250,000 Glimmer.
Bungie announced that Legendary Shards would expire by the time Destiny 2: The Final Shape comes around. With their use becoming less important in Season of the Wish, Glimmer will replace some of the Legendary Shard costs. Starting in Season of the Wish, the costs for ritual weapon focusing and weapons from the Monument to Lost Lights were updated, too.
Players were concerned with these changes since removing Legendary Shards would require more Glimmer, and as a result, they could run out of Glimmer more frequently. Luckily, the Destiny 2 Team’s Twitter account acknowledged this potential problem and announced that Glimmer gains will be increased across the board to compensate for increased costs.
However, at the time, players weren’t fully convinced that their Glimmer woes would be fixed by increased Glimmer drops. Some in the Destiny 2 community even requested Bungie to raise the capacity to prevent exacerbating the struggle to manage Glimmer. A few months after the fact, Bungie finally decided to increase the Glimmer capacity after years of staying the same in Destiny 2.
Whether this change will be enough to satisfy the player base remains to be seen, but ultimately, this is a step in the right direction. For those looking for tips on how to get and farm Glimmer in Destiny 2, check out our guide.
