Many areas that were once part of Destiny 2 have entered the Destiny Content Vault in order to reduce the sprawling size of the game. However, some of these areas are actually still accessible in the game — assuming you know how to get in. The Bergusia Forge, an Earth Dead Zone location from the old Black Armory activities — is one such area. Now, getting into the Forge in 2022 won’t let you run the activity or get new Black Armory weapons, but it’s still kind of fun to see it. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, here’s how to visit the vaulted Bergusia Forge in Destiny 2.
A YouTube video by Froggy618157725 demonstrates the technique, which he calls “default spawn manipulation.” In contrast to out of bounds glitches which require us to escape the normal boundaries of the level through unconventional movement, DSM glitches have the game do it for us. In this case, we’re going to block off the default spawn location in the EDZ, forcing Destiny 2 to drop us into the Bergusia Forge.
Head towards the Niobe Labs location in the EDZ, then kill yourself immediately when you hit the loading area (when you see “Niobe Labs” come up on the screen). Destiny 2 should then respawn you amidst a cluster of rocks. From here, jump straight up and throw Stasis Glacier Grenades to block off the area you just spawned in. If you’re having trouble blocking the whole area, you can use the Salvation’s Grip Exotic to drop more Stasis crystals. Quickly jump off the crystals and kill yourself again. Destiny 2 will try to respawn you, but the default location is blocked, so it instead sends you into the locked Bergusia Forge. Congratulations, you’re now a part of the DCV!
You can’t really do anything in here, but feel free to take some screenshots to impress your friends. And hey, maybe Bungie will bring back the Black Armory forges again someday — it’d be nice for Ada-1 to have something to do besides running the transmog machine.
