The Revelry Ends in Destiny 2
The spring seasonal event in Destiny 2 wraps up tomorrow. Remember to cash in all that Reveler’s Essence with Eva at the tower before then. If you still don’t have the Arbalest, our guide is here to help. Don’t have a chance to grab it? It’ll be available as a random Exotic drop after the event ends. If you’re all done with The Revelry, remember that you can still get a couple of enhancement cores for defeating bosses in the Verdant Forest today.
And hey, PVP’s going back to normal! As Bungie puts it, “If you were a player who didn’t enjoy the extra abilities in Competitive, you can celebrate the return to order on May 7.”
Update 2.2.2
Tomorrow Bungie rolls out the newest update for Destiny 2. Most notably, this update will push the Spectral Blades nerf after the super has been dominating PVP play. Hopefully this will mean an end to the classic “get killed by Spectral Blades, spawn and get killed by the same Spectral Blades” Crucible experience. The other changes in the update are mostly bugfixes:
- Fixed an issue where Dreaming City lore was not being awarded when completing an Ascendant Challenge.
- Fixed an issue where Chaos Reach would not deal damage to enemies affected by other status effects (such as Thorn’s Soul Devour or Hunter Tethers).
- Fixed an issue where Warlocks were unable to Blink after going through a portal.
- Fixed an issue in which Combination Blow was unintentionally magnifying damage of Arc Staff Super attacks.
- Fixed an Issue where the Iron Ruby shader was not dropping
-
- The shader now has a chance to drop when dismantling Iron Banner gear
-
The update will also address a number of issues, including the known problem with attaining the Verdant Light: Competitive triumph.
- Invitation of the Nine: Update 2.2.2 resolves an issue called out last week where “The Tower” pursuit from Xûr could not be completed.
- Verdant Light: Update 2.2.2 changes the “Verdant Light: Competitive” Triumph from the Revelry to require only 20 orbs, and it will unlock retroactively for players who have already met this new requirement. This will also complete the “Party Harder” Triumph for players who met all other requirements during the Revelry, awarding the Virescent emblem.
- Jubilant Engrams: In the week following Update 2.2.2, players who were erroneously awarded duplicate items from the Revelry’s Jubilant Engram will receive an in-game message informing them how this issue will be resolved for their account.
- Arc Week Emotes: In the week following Update 2.2.2, players who erroneously received the incorrect Arc emote during their Eververse purchase will receive an in-game message informing them how this issue will be resolved for their account.
Xur is on Io in Destiny 2
Until tomorrow’s weekly reset, Xur is on Io in the Giant’s Scar. He’ll sell you the Huckleberry for 29 Legendary shards, a fun submachine gun for PVE content. The rest of his exotics for sale aren’t particularly exciting, except for Contraverse Hold. These gauntlets are a must-have for any Void warlocks. They increase damage resistance while charging void grenades and also refund a random amount of grenade energy on a charged grenade hit.
Doubles are Back in Crucible
This week, the featured Crucible playlist is Doubles. As the name suggests, this Destiny 2 competitive mode pits teams of two against each other. One player can revive the other, but once you’re both down, that’s it. Watch each other’s backs out there!

The Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge: May 6, 2019
And now we finally come to the Ascendant Challenge for this week! This was the final Ascendant Challenge introduced to Destiny 2. Thankfully, it’s also one of the most fun (some might say most difficult). You can find it in the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector in Rheasilvia. The portal is directly above and behind the Lost Sector chest at the end of the area.
After you spawn into the Ascendant plane Toland (the floating spark of light in the darkness) will beckon you as usual — but a bunch of big knights will spawn, too. Don’t fight, just run. This challenge is actually a race against the knights who will constantly hound you as you try to run through the area, while avoiding enemies and boop-walls.
Just keep following the linear path. Avoid obstacles and enemies until you come to one last jumping puzzle. Traverse the rotating platforms to reach final boss arena. It’s a small platform where a boss knight and a bunch of adds will spawn. Focus down the knight to finish the challenge and earn your loot.
And that’s all for this week! Check back next week for our guide to the newest challenge and everything else new in Destiny 2. In the meantime, you can read our Destiny 2: Forsaken review for more thoughts on the expansion. Take care!
