Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters are fruitful as you explore the RPG's massive world and they are often difficult to defeat, with so many different combat mechanics unique to each kind of enemy. It comes as no surprise that Capcom's massive new game features various gruesome monsters considering its map's sheer size is just about four times the original Dragon's Dogma's. Learning to tackle many of these monstrosities is no easy feat, however, especially when you wish to master your fighting skills against them all.
While hardened Dragon's Dogma fans may recognize many of the sequel's enemies from their adventures through Capcom's original game, newcomers won't know what monsters to expect or where to expect their numbers to reside. From the ancient, ruinous outskirts of Battahl to the rocky ridges and woodlands surrounding Vermund, there are many stunning biomes and each one harbors its own set of Dragon's Dogma 2 enemies.
With so many bustling places to explore and so many monsters to come across while doing so, you may be wondering what Dragon's Dogma 2 enemies have in store for you whether you're a longtime fan of the first game or a fresh face to the established fandom. We've compiled a handy guide here featuring all of the Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters you'll encounter while playing the long-awaited sequel, including both the old enemies and the new ones most may be unfamiliar with.
All Dragon's Dogma 2 Enemies
If you want to know more about specific Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters, including where they're found or what they may appear as, we've got you covered. From the terrifying Chimera with its many heads to the annoying and widespread Goblins, you'll come across many a monster as you check off your ever-growing list of quests. Not all of these enemies will be as formidable a foe as others, but they're each worth you getting to know them so you never find yourself unprepared.
Chimera

These four-legged beasts may initially strike your eye as lions, but they are so much more than just massive felines with an unsatiable appetite. Chimeras don the courage and head of a lion, but they also feature two other functional heads including one of a serpent and one of a goat. Each head can attack you in-game with its own unique move, meaning that the Chimera boasts bite, magic, and poison attacks.
Chopper

Choppers are a subset of Goblins that lurk deep within the shadows of the darkest woodlands. These little beasts are mightier than they look, with speedy attacks and the ability to quickly ambush you before you even know you're in their presence. Choppers make use of their secluded terrain and stealth to get to you first, so keep your party's eyes peeled at all times amid the towering trees.
Cyclops

The Cyclops is a monstrously huge creature you'll encounter quite often as you quest throughout the wilderness. These big boys feature one single eye, which also happens to be their point of weakness. Be prepared to go up against the Cyclops and its massive weapon with ranged attacks, or opt to climb its intimidating body to hit its eye directly with melee weapons.
Drake

We all know that one of the most fearsome Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters is the titular Dragon itself, but what about the Drakes you'll encounter as you play? These guys may be smaller than their more well-known counterparts, the dragons, but they're still members of the same family and spit similarly fearsome flames when attacking you. If their fire-breathing isn't scary enough, then their wisdom and ability to manipulate magic surely are.
Dullahan

The Dullahan incites fear in even the most courageous Arisen. This ghastly knight emits a spiritual violet flame, his own head in one hand and a sharp blade in the other. If you come across this dark knight, you'll need to be prepared to take on an enemy featuring skillful swordplay. In the dark, the Dullahan is also able to transform into a black mist to stealthily get around and stalk the living.
Goblin

Goblins are perhaps the most common and widespread of all Dragon's Dogma 2 enemies you'll encounter as you play. While they do indeed possess limited intelligence, they are nonetheless ferocious in battle and able to move quickly by instinct. All Goblins you encounter will become hostile almost immediately, as they see your presence as a threat to the turf they claim. When it comes to these angry little beasts, you'll almost always take a whole pack on rather than just a single Goblin as they stick together.
Golem

The Golem is an artificial, man-made construct that sorcerers would power. These rocky mountain-like beasts are made out of a strong, near-impenetrable stone surface that repels both magical and physical attacks. If you want to take a Golem on, you'll need to be willing to climb its towering body to break its glowing weak points or hit these parts from a distance with ranged attacks and weapons.
Griffin

Griffins are giant winged beasts that feature the face and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. These frightening creatures fly high and circle around their prey from the sky, striking once ready. You'll need to be quick about how you take these monsters down if you're attacked from above, as they can flee just as quickly as they can attack.
Harpy

Harpies are eerie, unsettling winged monsters that resemble a terrifying blend between a bird and a female human being. They stick together in groups, circling from above as they sing their hypnotic songs to try and put victims to sleep. If you withstand the initial lull of their serenade, you'll be up against their sharp avian talons as they swoop down to attack you.
Hobgoblin

Hobgoblins are a more evolved version of the little Goblins you'll encounter everywhere as you journey. These higher-class Goblins are experts when it comes to hunting prey and tearing through enemies skillfully with their weapons. You'll notice that Hobgoblins are more swift and sure in their movements as they fight compared to their less threatening brethren, the Goblins.
Knacker

Much like the Hobgoblin, the Knacker is another of the Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters that happens to be related to the Goblin. These bigger enemies are more agile on elevated terrain and are proficient in raiding enemies from higher ground. Knackers feature strong mobility and long weapons, so you'll need to keep an eye up for them whenever passing through their territory.
Minotaur

The Minotaur is an incredibly fierce beast featuring the head of a bull. Its hit is ferocious and often fatal, sending victims flying from its sheer force. Whenever you go up against the mighty Minotaur, you'll want to make sure that you avoid both its charge attack as well as its massive axe's blade lest you end up needing to spend your Wakestones.
Ogre

Ogres are grisly creatures with a relentless desire to target women in particular. These formidable foes track women down only to then capture and devour them. Ogres are visually quite large, but don't let their massive size fool you. These disgusting beasts are just as fast and powerful as they are big, taking men who get in their way and women they are pursuing down without issue.
Rattler

Rattlers appear much like desert-dwelling lizards do in reality, albeit with literally rocky spines. These four-legged monsters scuttle through mountainous terrain, often mistaken for rolling boulders when moving. If you come across one of these spiky boys, you'll want to knock them over and aim for their stomachs.
Saurian

Saurians also appear much like lizards do, with a humanoid hint mixed in to boot. These scaly creatures make their homes near water where they lay their eggs and wield large spears. You'll want to dismember their tails when you're in combat with them if you're hoping to prove victorious against Saurians.
Skeleton

Skeletons are immortal, undead humanoid monsters that wander constantly throughout the night without much thought. These beasts are simply cursed bones, skeletal structures moving and killing without a true will of their own. Don't underestimate these creatures, though, as they're quick fighters and wield various weapons.
Slime

Slimes are slow yet dangerous crawling creatures with no thought or will. These simple beasts are exactly what they sound like, taking the form of gelatinous blobs that move through various terrains and dissolve any other forms of life they come into contact with. Avoid getting trapped within the slimy grip of these guys if you want to survive.
Talos

In Greek mythology, Talos was a giant automaton made of bronze that circled the shores of Crete daily. Talos is not all that different in Dragon's Dogma 2, taking the shape of a massive bronze construct that rises from the sea to walk over valleys with ease. This metallic beast is just as merciless as it is big, and we wouldn't recommend taking it on unless you're fully prepared to face its unbridled chaotic energy.
Undead

Much like the Skeletons in-game, the Undead are reanimated corpses. These rotting folk can spread their evil affliction to the living much like zombies can in most media, making them especially fearsome. Thankfully, they're quite vulnerable to both fire and holy attacks, so you should always come face-to-face against them while equipped with good boons and spells.
Wight

Out of all the Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters, the Wight may very well be one of the RPG's most terrifying. This enemy is the darkness-dwelling spirit of a priest, carrying the weight of an eternal grudge with it. It wields powerful magic, making combat quite challenging if conducted head-on. Get out of the range of the Wight's magical attacks if you hope to survive against the skeletal foe.
Wolf

Wolves are far less fearsome than many of the other Dragon's Dogma 2 enemies, but they are nonetheless annoying and oftentimes challenging to deal with due to how common they are and their tendency to fight alongside their pack much like Goblins do. You'll most often find these pack-hunting beasts roaming in forests and mountainous regions.
Those are some of the villainous Dragon's Dogma 2 monsters and enemies you'll come across as you play Capcom's immense RPG. From the terrifyingly beautiful Chimera to the ravenous wolves, you're bound to encounter a good variety of capable beasts while you complete quests and explore.
